What to expect
Any work tasks will be outdoors using our tools and training will be given together with health and safety points. Staff are first-aid trained. If you have a favourite pair of work gloves and wish to be involved in practical tasks do feel free to bring them and any other equipment you may wish to use.
Self-service tea and coffee will be available in the Sunley Room along with breakfasts and lunches. Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits will be available during breaks. After meals the group will be expected to help wash and dry up in the kitchen.
Free times will be built in for you to explore! There are lots of public footpaths direct from the centre including the Wales Coast Path. We are a stone’s throw from Whiteford National Nature Reserve and the marsh, both of which are great for birdwatching with two hides or a dramatic walk at low tide to the lighthouse. Swimming should be approached with caution as we have some dangerous currents, but is possible in the right conditions – always take someone with you.
Other places to visit include castles, churches and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centre at Llanelli. Don’t forget our village shop for tea and cake to reward yourself after a walk, and a lovely cream tea is served locally at Cwm Ivy café along with other home-made goodies.
